Crimea Acknowledges Independence (A Social Studies Project)

After a long time Ukraine goes to Russia. The Ukraine joins Russia after a vote and 97% of Ukraine citizens vote to join Russia. President Obama announced “We are making it clear there are consequences for their actions.” And “If Russia continues to hamper in Ukraine we stand ready to impose further sanctions.”  A senior describes that these sanctions are the most against Russia since the cold war.
Twenty-one officials from Russia and Ukraine have traveled bans by the Europe Union and the list is expandable. Europe was calling yesterdays referendum banned and pressing Russia to at least talk to the Government of Ukraine.

So, Ukraine is back with Russia, but Obama is not happy about it. Now Europe wants to talk to Russia. There is still more we want to know more about and what happens next!

The significant message of this article is that crimea declared independence.

The writer doesn’t have any bias in their article.  They put even amounts of text on both sides so they didn’t like Ukraine more than Russia or say "I don't agree with Obama."

This event relates to the Korean War because of the tension increase there was. There were many times when Russia and Ukraine had tension, like when Russia didn’t want Ukraine to be with them anymore, that made many people in Ukraine worried and scared.

In this project I learned that most of Ukraine wanted to be with Russia because 97% of Ukraine voted to be united with Russia. I also learned that Obama wasn’t happy about the Ukrainians going to Russia.

This is the image I was thinking in my mind.

  2. I agree with Obama that Ukraine joining with Russia would not be a very good thing. Lets hope that Ukraine does not become communist. I like your article and how you wrote it Aiden. One suggestion that I have is that you could put some of the facts in your post. Even though you have facts I think you could put more into this post.
